Definitively 23 matches will include this year’s program Formula 1as the organizers finalized that there will be no replacement for the Chinese Grand Prix.
The latter was canceled in December, due to the restrictions that had been in place until recently in the Asian country due to the coronavirus pandemic, and although most of the measures have since been lifted, the Chinese Grand Prix, remains for the fourth year in a row out of the program.
Initially some alternatives were considered, but in the end it was decided not to add another race to the existing 23 (which is a record for Formula 1 anyway).
The 2023 World Cup will begin on March 5 in Bahrain. The cancellation of the Chinese Grand Prix, which was due to take place on 16/4 in Shanghai, leaves a gap of four weeks between the race in Australia (2/4) and the next one, which will take place on 30 April in Azerbaijan.
