“Greece’s co-candidacy for the 2030 World Cup is a given, if Mitsotakis is re-elected”

Determined to implement the plan and co-organize it World Cup of 2030 with Hellas and Egypt seems to be the Saudi Arabia according to the German media, Deutsche Welle.

In particular, Saudi Arabia knows that FIFA will hardly give the anointing to take over an Arab country alone, again the organization and is looking for co-organizers, hoping to continue its sports project after securing the Club World Cup at the end of December 2023.

In fact, DW seems to have contacted the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis, who, however, kept his cards closed stating: “The talks are still at an early stage, the possibilities for submitting a joint candidacy are being considered».

With the Saudis aware that only OAKA qualifies based on capacity for World Cup matches, they are considering putting forward an “immoral proposal” and taking on the entire cost of building the new, state-of-the-art stadiums.

A comment was also requested from the president of the EPO, Taki Baltakowho stated: “If the minister decides, I will sign the application for nomination with both hands…».

As is perfectly reasonable, in Greece they have some reservations with the government keeping the issue low before the elections, while as reported if the re-elected Kyriakos Mitsotakis, joint candidacy with the Saudis should be taken for granted. It should be noted that FIFA’s final decision will be announced in 2024, in Osaka, Japan.
