EEC: Invites the teams to request a wild card for the category they want to compete in the new season!

The Hellenic Basketball Federation issued an announcement on Wednesday night (24/05), presenting a new proposal to the teams competing in the national championships!

In particular, the EEC gives the possibility to the teams that compete in Elite League, 2nd National, 3rd Men’s National and Women’s A1 and A2to apply wild card for the league they want to join in the new season!

The announcement of the Hellenic Basketball Federation in detail:



“Taking into account the Special Licensing Regulation of the EEC (which was drawn up in accordance with the Law, voted by the regular General Assembly of the Hellenic Basketball Federation on 18 May 2022, duly submitted for approval to the Minister responsible for sports on 3.6.2022 and placed in effective after two months have passed since its submission for approval, in accordance with the provision of article 27 of Law 2725/1999, as amended and in force), and regarding any vacancies that arise in the Elite League, in the B’ National Men’s Division, in the 3rd Men’s National Category, in the A1 Women’s National Category and in the A2 Women’s National Category, the Hellenic Basketball Federation invites all its member associations that wish to participate in its events through the wild card granting process, to expressing their interest in the category in which they wish to compete (submitting an application for granting a special license/wild card) during the 2023-2024 competition season.

The purpose of the above wild card procedure is to exceptionally grant the right to participate in the EEC Championship in the event that, after the validation of the 2022-2023 ranking table, a team a) does not submit or does not submit the required supporting documents for participation by the deadline of the Championship of the 2023-2023 competition season, b) does not meet the requirements of the Regulations and the decisions of the Board of Directors of the E.O.K. defined, each time, conditions for participation, c) refuses to participate in the event in which it has acquired the right to participate, in order to ensure the provision of competitive opportunities to teams, which provide financial and competitive guarantees of equal and competitive participation in the Championships of EEC competence and development and spreading the sport of basketball.
