Even with a signed contract, RedeTV! may lose the rights to broadcast the Bundesliga. The commercial department of the Osasco broadcaster was unable to find a sponsor to ensure the broadcast of the matches and is running out of time to do so.
Closed at the beginning of the month, the agreement between RedeTV! and the Bundesliga was the first of a series of ties that the German league closed for the 2023/2024 season. TV Cultura, Globo/SporTV, Nosso Futebol, Cazé TV and Goat signed contracts. In addition, football app Onefootball has renewed its agreement to show all league games via streaming until 2026.
The issue is that no production by RedeTV! airs without at least one fixed sponsor. This is the case of entertainment programs, for example, like Vou te Contar, by Claudete Troiano, shown in the morning slot. Claudete is only on the air on the station because she is funded by the Ultrafarma pharmacy chain.
This explains the fact that RedeTV! not having officially announced that he acquired Alemão or talking about it, even though the Bundesliga had officially disclosed the contract. If a commercial contract is not signed by September 1st, RedeTV! must give up the championship — which would make TV Cultura become the only broadcaster to show Alemão on open TV.
By contract, RedeTV! is entitled to 34 games until the end of the season, which ends in May 2024 – one game per weekend round. The situation caused discomfort backstage, especially among the sports and journalism teams, who saw the product as a way to strengthen the channel’s programming.
wanted by F5 since last Friday (25) to confirm the matter, RedeTV! did not respond until the last update of this text.
