ESAP, with a statement it issued on Monday, responded to the accusations of Kerkis Samos for the decision not to participate in the Volley League of the new season, saying that continuous publications spoil the image of the League.
In detail, the announcement:
“The president and the members of the Board of Directors of ESAP are watching with surprise and disappointment the unprecedented campaign in terms of Greek volleyball (professional and non-professional) launched by the management of the otherwise sympathetic and historic association of Kerki Samos against the EOPE, of ESAP and personally against its president, Pantelis Tarnatorou, on the occasion of the new Volley League championship 2023-24.
In these difficult times when our country is already mourning 15 dead from the deadly floods in Thessaly, ESAP does not shy away from all forms of attacks with unabashed lies and defamatory content, but remains committed to its sporting and statutory purposes, preparing important, not only competitive , but also social actions in the context of the new championship.
ESAP and its member unions participate in the overall mourning. Sensing the difficult times of our fellow citizens, we are temporarily silent, leaving the newly minted actors of Kerkis to expose themselves with what they say and do.
At the same time, they assure them that very soon they will receive the appropriate answers to the institutional, jurisdictional and judicial bodies to which they first appealed for answers both at the level of legal entities and at the level of natural persons.
The sport has suffered in the past from similar attitudes of self-appointed ‘protectors and guardians’ who only see their narrowly understood corporate interest, making it ‘black and white’ and, as far as we are concerned. we will not return neither now nor in the future similar phenomena.
We continue undaunted and committed to the great goal which is none other than to improve the image of the league every year and be better than the previous one, offering joy and spectacle to the sports fan world, while remaining open to positive, constructive and honest dialogue with a unique goal the good of Greek volleyball”.
