by

A little more than a month remained for a big and special sporting event, which the Hellenic Philatelic Table Tennis Federation has the pleasure of organizing in Crete.

From November 1 to 5, 2023, the World Table Tennis for Health Festival will be held in Dio Aoraki of Heraklion, a global event, which for the first time includes not only the World Table Tennis Championship for people with Parkinson’s, but also matches for people with other neurological diseases, as well as an international conference on the beneficial effects of Olympic sports in all kinds of neurological diseases!

A team of the International Table Tennis Federation Foundation (ITTF Foundation) carried out the final inspection on the two days of 09/22 and 23/09 at the facilities of Heraklion, which will host the matches and missions, and was completely satisfied. He had excellent cooperation with the president of E.F.O.E.P.A. Kostas Papageorgiou and the final discussions on the details of the organization took place.

We would like to take this opportunity to note that registrations for the WTT 4Health Festival are ongoing and will be completed at the beginning of October. The delegation of the world federation was made up of Ramon Ortega-Montes (ITTF Foundation – Programs Coordinator) and Saurabh Mishra (Programmes Manager), while next to the head of the Greek federation was throughout the autopsy the partner of E.F.O. .E.A. Manos Borsis. Everything went very well and there was a constructive and productive discussion with everyone about every detail of holding the historic – and for the world federation – first in the annals of the sport WTT 4Health Festival. That is, the organization, which competitively is not limited to people with Parkinson’s and non-competitively will send a strong message to the whole world about the help that table tennis offers to people with serious neurological diseases.

In the wonderful city of Crete, meetings were held with the owner of the cooperating hotels Pantelis Sapunakis, the director of Lyttos Beach Resort Nikos Kritsotakis, the sales director of Arina Beach Resort Ariadni Chnara and the vice president of the Panhellenic Alzheimer Federation Pavlos Potouridis.

Also, during the inspection by ITTF officials, a visit was made both to the cooperating hotels and to the “2 Aorakia” sports facility, where the competitive part of the event will be held. The world conference will take place on Friday 03 and Saturday 04/11 at the conference center of the Arina Beach Resort hotel and will be dedicated to the beneficial effects of table tennis on neurological diseases. At the conference, studies will be presented by important figures of various specialties from all over the world.

The “present” in Crete is expected to be given, among others, by Princess Zeina Rashid of Jordan, who is a member of the board of directors of the ITTF Foundation, the Swedish president of the world federation Petra Sorling and of course the director of the foundation Leandro Olvech.
