Chus Mateo’s team continued their impressive performances on Tuesday night (17/10), winning comfortably and in style 93-79 of Zalgiris in Madrid and the “WiZink Center” for the 3rd matchday of the Euroleague!
Having in an excellent evening the two Argentines, of Gabriel Dec and Facundo Campacho, the “merenches” made it “3 out of 3” in this year’s event, remaining at the top of the scoreboard. The former finished the match with 19 points, while the experienced guard had 18 points and 9 assists. Poirier followed closely with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
For Lithuanians who suffered their first European defeat of the season, Schmitz stood out (12 points), but also Mitrou-Long with 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
The match was balanced in the first minutes, with Campacho helping her Real and with 14 personal points in the first quarter (!) sent his team to +9 (25-16), before Zalgiris rallied to close the period at 25-19. The Spaniards, led by Hezonia and Poirier, managed to increase the difference to +14 (44-30) in the middle of the second period, a difference that was kept high in half time (53-43).
At the beginning of the third period, the Lithuanians they were able to collect the difference (55-51), however, then there was a continuous counterattack by the hosts who, with Dek taking the lead, closed the quarter at +10 for 72-62. In fact, Real didn’t stop there, on the contrary, they “cleaned up” the match from the very beginning of the fourth period, reaching up to +18 for their third pink card of the season with final 93-79.
