Ferrari: “I want a trophy with Mars”

by

THE Franco Ferrari gave an interview to the radio station “City 106.1” and among other things revealed the goals he has with the jersey of Aris.

The Argentine also mentioned that he started Greek lessons, while he emphasized that he wants to conquer a trophy with the “yellows”.

In detail what he said:

Franco, good evening, we saw a recent post of yours showing you taking Greek lessons. Have you started classes?

“Yes it’s true, I started last week with a Greek teacher.”

What is the atmosphere in the Aris team after two consecutive victories against Panserraikos and PAS Ioannina?

“The atmosphere is very good, the team is now in the top six, which is where we want to be. We are satisfied with the two victories and the presence of the team, but of course we have to continue, work even harder and above all win the important match we have in front of us on Sunday against Atromitos”.

In the last two games and especially in the match against PAS Ioannina, your performance was excellent. What is the reason for your improvement?

“When you have so many changes ahead of you, you change team, city, you have to learn your teammates, the coach, it takes time to adapt. I feel like I’ve improved a lot in the last two games too, but I’ll leave it at that. I feel, I have the obligation to give more and I keep working to help the team even more, because I can do it.”

In the last match you gave your first assist. Is it time to see your first goal?

“I don’t know, of course I want to score the first goal. As a left-back I always try to give assists, help the strikers to score, but I hope that at some point I will score in the Aris shirt.”

Before we met you with Volos, during the years you played in Argentina, you did not only play as a left back. Correctly;

“Yes, I have also played as a left winger, a similar position because you have to play all over the line, only with more quality. But also as a left back I am more aggressive, I like to go up, help the team aggressively, get assists”.

Have you ever played as a central defender?

“Not ever, but I have played as a defensive midfielder. As a central defender, I could only play with a back three”.

How much did you want and wait for the Aris project? Did you find things as you hoped? What goals do you have with the Aris team?

“Of course I knew Aris very well, I played three years in Volos and I had faced him, but I also talked to all the Argentinian players of Aris, who played earlier in the team. They told me everything in detail about the team, about the city, about the incredible way people live every game, about the rivalry with PAOK, something I have experienced as I myself come from Rosario, with a terrible rivalry between two groups. Of course I want to win something with Aris. I know the League is very competitive, but of course I want something, I want Europe, I want a trophy, maybe the Cup. It’s my goal.”

As a football player of Volos, you were targeted by many big teams. What happened and you finally went to APOEL?

“It was something that was out of my hands, sometimes that happens because of teams or agendas. But I am happy to be on Mars now and I want to write a beautiful story with Mars. What happened in the past stays there.”

What are the differences with the Cypriot teams?

“Mainly the presence of the people. Cyprus is a small country, the League is similar to the Greek one, with the same format. Cypriot football is constantly rising in the European competitions. I think the difference is the full stadiums in Greece in more games.”

We know you have a tattoo of Lionel Messi, which you often kiss. Does this mean?

“Yes, he recently won another Ballon d’Or, nothing surprises me about Leo. I grew up with him, I have no words for his talent. I like that he is humble about his personal life. My big brother has three Messi tattoos all over his back, and we share the same passion.”

Which left back is your model for us to understand and how do you like to play? Which opponent has given you trouble?

“Players like Roberto Carlos and the Frenchman Lizarazu, when I was a kid they excited me. But also Sorin, my compatriot from Argentina. Huge left backs, I love them.

In Greece I played with excellent right backs. In Olympiacos, for example, was Bruma. Terrible speed, it was hard to defend, Podense too. There are quite a few players. Mancini for example from Aris when we were rivals”.
