Useful information via News Bulletin 247 regarding the legislation against fan violence and what should be done to eliminate it was given by the professor of Criminal Law at the University of Athens and a professor at the European University of Cyprus, Leonidas Kotsalis.
Talking to him Kyriakos Thomaidis on the station’s show “Tuesday Appeal” referred to the competences of the Supreme Court in such matters, compared the measures taken in other countries against hooliganism with Greece, while emphasizing that the essential solution will only come with the cooperation of the State with the PAE.
“The Supreme Court is not an institution of preliminary situations. Fan violence is a manifestation of social violence. This coincides with fandom. When football was amateur things were different. They existed in other countries, but it was tamed. They got what they paid for.
Here they took measures with the Kontonis law. Then it was requested by the G..G.A. a message had come to discuss things. I was impressed by the way we would analyze the issues as they had substance. It is near. It is not a long distance, but we ask for their implementation.
Is it possible to have meetings upon meetings and not get the opinion of someone more expert in these matters?
If there is no substantial cooperation between the State and PAE, no substantial solution will emerge.”
