THE Ukraine accomplished a small feat last night by qualifying to Euro against Iceland and the president of the country, Volodymyr Zelenskywanted to congratulate the country’s footballers for qualifying for the German stadiums for the coming summer.
His team Sergey Rembrov qualified despite being forced to compete away from home for the past two years due to Ukraine’s war with Russia. Qualification came with upsets in both play-off games 2-1 against Bosnia and Iceland respectively. This caused his admiration Volodymyr Zelensky and congratulated the team via a post on Twitter.
“Thank you guys! Thank you team! For the important feelings you gave to an entire country. For the important victory and qualification to the finals of the Euro. For the fact that you proved once again that when Ukrainians face difficulties they never give up and keep fighting, definitely reaching victory. From time to time, when the enemy tries to destroy us, we prove every day that Ukrainians exist and will exist. Ukraine is here and will continue to be. Thank you for the win!
