Panathinaikos: Renewal of the strategic partnership with the AKTOR Group

The commercial naming sponsorship deal, which was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, has been extended for a further four seasons, with a time horizon until the end of the 2028/29 season.

Thus, Panathinaikos will continue to bear the renewed name of the AKTOR Group.

At the same time, following the commission from White Veil Venue and Facilities Management, AKTOR Group coordinated the studies and reconstruction of this iconic stadium in record time, with the whole process from study to reconstruction taking just 4 months, confirming the unparalleled technical capabilities of the AKTOR Group.

The biggest and perhaps most emblematic intervention was the upgrade of the playing field with the installation of the glass floor and the installation of audio-visual equipment that upgrades the experience of the game and improves the atmosphere of the field.

The first to speak was the president of KAE Panathinaikos AKTOR, Mr. Vassilis Parthenopoulos, who said:

Today, we are here to seal the continuation of a great partnership with the Intrakat Group, a partnership that has proven its worth and has already laid the foundations for new successes.

Last year, the AKTOR group was not just our namesake. He was the valuable partner who stood by us, in every challenge and in every victory, on and off the field. Together, we managed to promote Panathinaikos at all levels, achieving goals and setting even higher ones. Today, the name “PANATHENAIKOS AKTOR” is synonymous with excellence, trust and a shared commitment to success.

This year – as you have already seen – under the auspices of the AKTOR group, a valuable upgrade took place in our “home”, the closed OAKA. This renovation is not just aesthetic; it is tangible evidence of our shared commitment to a modern space that reflects the club’s history and values. A venue that proudly welcomes our fans, providing a unique experience and a dynamic pulse that pushes our common path to the top.

AKTOR’s contribution is therefore not limited to our name. Her presence at our side is an assurance of safety, innovation and quality in every aspect of the experience we offer to the sports fans. The renewal of our partnership highlights the commitment of both parties to continuous improvement and development. For his part, Mr. Ergin Ataman said: “Thank you for your presence. A strong team also needs strong “teammates” and AKTOR Group is one such for us. The first season of our collaboration with the AKTOR Group was combined with the return of Panathinaikos AKTOR to the top of Greece and Europe, but also with the reconstruction of our stadium.

Of course I know that AKTOR is a very big manufacturing group, just as Panathinaikos is a big basketball “manufacturing” power, so the coexistence of these two is very successful.”

When asked about the progress of Panathinaikos AKTOR so far, he said: “I think that since last year we have built a great chemistry, not only with great players, but mainly with players who have great character. Things are always positive in the locker room. We can’t win every time or play great. This team and these players have such great character though, they never give up. Even if we ever have a problem, they know how to solve it.

So far, from last year to now we have achieved great results. We have been excellent in three consecutive away games, on three very difficult pitches. Now we will play in our field. I have great respect for Olympiacos, its team and its coach. They won two big games last week. We will be ready and we will fight to win, because we know very well that in order to succeed, we have to play well”.

On whether there is room for the team to touch perfection, even better than they are doing now: “Teams always have to improve. Of course, the results have been great in the last three games, but there is always room for improvement. Perfect basketball and perfect results only exist at the end of the season when you win the EuroLeague title. So far, the results of some games have been perfect, but basketball will be perfect on nights when we win a title.”

On when he will tell teammates to get tickets to the Final Four, he said: “I know at every press conference you ask me that question. We’ll have to see where it will take place first, we don’t know the location yet. As soon as the EuroLeague announces it, I will say it.”

On behalf of the AKTOR Group, the Legal Advisor of AKTOR Group, Mr. Yiannis Argyropoulos stated: “It is a great pleasure to be here again today. Will you allow me to go back a year to remember how things were for both the team and our Club. The team, therefore, coming from a difficult period, had made a very large investment in human resources. Back then, only the coach and the management believed in something so big, like conquering the European summit. They passed the flame to the public and succeeded.

Of course, to use a phrase that is widespread in the club, I will say that Panathinaikos means a fighting spirit, what we also embrace at AKTOR, to fight and always be at the top. So with these common principles and perceptions, the team and management of Panathinaikos and the management of our Club decided to continue and expand the successful collaboration of last season”.

Afterwards, the Chief Communications Officer of AKTOR Group, Mr. Giorgos Tsaprounis, spoke, who added: “It is an important moment, we feel particularly happy because apart from naming the group, we also completed a demanding technical project, which showed not only the enormous technical capabilities, but above all the determination of our people, so that in just four months they could complete a very difficult, but beautiful stadium. OAKA is now the most beautiful in Europe.

We are very happy to have contributed to this. Let’s not forget that about three decades ago, AKTOR was the one who built this particular stadium, so to come and proceed with the reconstruction and deliver this jewel of the Greek makes us very happy. We believe that the best is yet to come.

Sharing common values, common determination and common vision is perhaps the most important thing about this partnership for the next few years, until 2028/29 we will be together.”

Finally, regarding the next steps in the field, he said: “To get better, you must never stop. You have seen the first writing samples of this collaboration on a technical level. The good and happy thing is that the president always wants to make better, more beautiful things.
