Panathinaikos, with broken brakes, swept PAOK with a new streak!

Panathinaikos doesn’t stop the struggles! The Greens reached triple figures for the 5th time in their last 7 matches in all competitions and prevailed 100-81 of PAOKremaining undefeated with a 13-0 record in the Stoiximan GBL and dropping the losers to 7-6.

The “double-header of the north” was very competitive for about 2.5 quarters and even found itself ahead by the score (53-54) about 6 minutes before the end of the third quarter. From that point on, Mr Panathinaikos got serious in defense and attack, got double digit difference and eventually cruised to a comfortable victory against a team that again proved to be competitive.

For the second game in a row, the duo of Omer Yurtseven and Kendrick Nunn dominated for the European champions. The Turkish center had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks with 9/9 2-point shooting, while the American guard had 26 points and 4 assists with 11/14 shooting from the field. Of the rest, 13 points were scored by Lorenzo Brown and 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists o Chedi Osman.

For PAOK, he stood out with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals Frank Bartleywhile 15 points were scored by DeVonde Upson and 13 with 7 assists o Dimitris Katsivelis. For Panathinaikos, they did not play Jerian Grant and Kostas Sloukas to protect themselves, the first due to discomfort in the right ankle and the second for tightness in the calf.

The American guard of the hosts made an impressive individual effort (19-19), before Moraitis scored in transition for 21-19. Osman took shots and made them (23-19), before hitting a 3-pointer for 26-19. The first period ended with a score of 28-21 thanks to a basket by Mitoglou.

In the second quarter, Papapetrou from close range again brought Panathinaikos to a double-digit difference (31-21). Frank Bartley made a difficult field goal to cut it for PAOK (32-23), before Papadakis hit a three-point shot to make it 32-26. Mitoglou scored from close range (34-26) and Upson scored in transition for 34-28. He was again hung by the basket of Panathinaikos (34-30), with Nan reaching double figures early on for the home team’s 36-30. Brown and Forrester exchanged baskets (38-32), with Nan running to the surprise and writing 40-32. The American guard continued to be unstoppable and made the difference in double digits with a long shot (45-34), while Bartley and Kalaitzakis they also made 3-pointers for 48-37. The half ended 48-38 on a shot by Upson.

In the second half, PAOK came out strong and reduced the score to 50-44 with a three-pointer by Bartley and a foul shot by Reynolds. The latter made a layup in transition (50-46), before o Katsivelis he does the same and brings the “bicep” to the basket (50-48). Nan gave a solution to Panathinaikos (53-48), but Bartley reduced it again with a long two-pointer and Upson brought the match to a point (53-52). The guests also went ahead with him Upson (53-54), but Yurtseven scored consecutive points for 57-54. Hernangomet scored by taking the foul too but he also missed a shot (59-56), while after his own block Nan wrote 61-56. Osman scored a boy’s basket (63-56), with the Katsiveli and Nan to exchange three-pointers and the American to write 69-59. Europe’s top scorer teamed up with Yurtseven that brought the difference to 12 (71-59), with Turko nailing consecutive times for 77-63 in the third quarter.

In the fourth period, Brown hit from the corner on defense (80-63), before hitting another three-pointer from the top for 83-63. Osman scored a difficult layup while also getting the foul but missed another shot (85-65), with Gabriel making a tap and Papapetrou scoring for 88-65. The experienced forward took two shots and made one for 89-67, with Brown answering the Cruiser for 91-69. The American with a Spanish passport made another three-pointer (94-71), and Samoturov took the baton with a long shot from the corner and then a layup for 99-73. The only interest left in the game was whether Panathinaikos would reach the deadlock, which was finally done with a shot from Antetokounmpo for 100-75.
