Hosu has officially retired from swimming

by

At the age of 36, Katinka Hosu “dropped” definitive “titles” in her swimming career. The Hungarian swimming star, in a statement she posted on Wednesday on social media, thanked those who helped her make her dream come true and that she will be there to help bring out new talents in the sport, which at some point she herself would like to train.

The “iron lady” of the 50-a-side pool, after the birth of her daughter in 2023, tried to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, but she did not succeed and the meeting of Sete Kohli last June was her “swan song”.

In her long career, Hosu won four Olympic medals (three gold) and 15 medals in the 50-person pool world championships, 11 of which were gold.

Hosu’s statement: “For 30 years, water has been my home, a haven where I found solace and strength. From the moment I first stepped into the pool as a child, I knew I had discovered something magical. I learned valuable lessons throughout my career that transcended sports. Swimming taught me perseverance in the face of adversity, the importance of discipline and the beauty of teamwork.

In the years to come I hope to share the passion for swimming, teaching young swimmers the magic I found in the water and encouraging them to follow their dreams.”
