The contract was signed to restore the static adequacy of the central stadium and bike path of the Athens Olympic Sports Center (OAKA) of € 61.35 million.
The contract was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Athens Olympic Athletic Center (OAKA), Ioanna Batsou, and the Vice President and CEO of METKA ATE, Dinos Benroubis.
The purpose of the project is to prepare studies and to perform work for a) the restoration of the required level of static adequacy of metal structures in the two roofs of the OAKA and (b) the maintenance/repair/replacement of elements of metal structures and polycarbonate sheets of the roofs.
The project is expected to be completed within 14 months of the date of signing the contract with the contractor, while the resources for its implementation come from the National Plan for Recovery and Rules “Greece 2.0” with the funding of the European Union – NextGenerationeu.
The PPF has undertaken on behalf of the OAKA to mature and auction the project as part of its joint action with the TEE and the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports to radically renovate the most important Olympic infrastructure. The overall budget of interventions for modernization and upgrading of the OAKA amounts to EUR 111 million (now VAT).
The Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Broutsis, said: “It is a historic day for Greek sport. After 21 years, the OAKA is born! With the signing of the contract for the restoration of the static adequacy of the Central Stadium and the bike path, a technically demanding project of high quality, with complete commitment to quality and transparency begins. The safety of sports facilities has been a non -negotiable priority for the government and for me, from the first moment I took over the portfolio of sports and this great project is part of the broader OAKA upgrade plan, with the aim of making them fully renewed and renewed. The roofs of the central stadium and the bike path, emblematic works of modern Greek sport, will gain the static security and aesthetics they deserve. The Coordinator of the OAKA, Konstantinos Chalioris, said: “The importance of the project for the OAKA is enormous, as it concerns the core of the Olympic Group and the security of thousands of athletes, athletes and spectators.
