Stamatouros’ first victory and Papadimitriou’s return to Germany

by

So much so that the Greek presences in European table tennis have “spread”, there are games almost every week, but some of the last three days have taken a special interest for specific reasons.

In the second national category of France, first of all, the so-called Pro B, the current Greek champion of the men’s singles, George Stamatouros, who is playing with the jersey of Istr, scored his “virgin” victory. Also, in France and the National categories, two matches with Greek “duels” took place last Saturday.

Starring in one case (fifth category of men) Nikos Antoniadis, Giannis Vlotinos and Anestis Kariofyllidis and in the other (second category of women) Georgia Zavitsanou and Dimitra-Thomas Tsekoura. Also, the current Greek champion of the Simple Young Women, Malamatenia Papadimitriou, successfully returned to action on Sunday in the Bundesliga 2 of Germany, almost two months after her big toe injury.

Istr, to which Giorgos Stamatouros moved this year, has given three matches. The latter was Tuesday night at home with the 4S Tour. After an ambiguous match, the host team prevailed with 3-2 sets, with the 22-year-old international giving an individual match and participating in the double in the last individual game.

The victory came against the very remarkable French international, Lillian Barthe, and it was his first in this championship, after two defeats.

In the double, Istr bent down and thus suffered its third defeat this year in Pro B.

In the Bundesliga 2, Malamatenia Papadimitriou made her second appearance this year with the jersey of Anroht, but the most important thing in this case is that she gave her first games after her injury on September 20th.

The German club lost 6-3 sets away from Kolbermour and our 17-year-old champion made a good face on her return through two strong matches. Initially, she had a marginal double defeat with teammate Lea Grochmann and then took a 3-1 set victory over Laura Came. Our left-handed international had played in September and in the second in a row match of the championship.

In Anroht’s 6-3 victory over Langweid, she had prevailed in the doubles with the same partner and had lost in the singles.

The Women’s Bundesliga 2 continues next Sunday, but Papadimitriou will be missing, as she will play in the Panhellenic Championship for athletes under 21, which will take place 20-21 of the month at SEF.
