Plan for protection of ministries from cyber attacks – The new tasks of the Ministry of Defense |

A draft Presidential Decree (PD) was submitted to the Council of State for legislative elaboration, with which amendments and additions to the PD are made. 1/2017 concerning the organization of E.Y.P., as it was modified with the later P.D. 96/2020.

According to the plan P.D. in article 2 of P.D. 1/2017 which refers to the bodies that fall under the responsibility of protecting the cyber attack team in government services, ministries, etc., are added to this protection and the supervised bodies of the ministries.

More specifically, the relevant provision is formulated as follows:

“As a Cyber ​​Attack Response Team (National CERT), within the national Cybersecurity network defined by the National Cyber ​​Security Authority, for cyber attacks against public bodies of the country, which do not fall under the competence of the Directorate of Cyber ​​Defense. (CSIRT). In particular, it supports the Presidency of the Government and the Ministries and their successors, with the exception of the Ministry of National Defense, for the prevention, early warning and response to cyber attacks against them “.

Still, according to the plan P.D. in the Management Unit of International and European Programs of the Center for Technological Support, Development and Innovation (KETYAK) of E.Y.P., according to the changes that are coming, the responsibility of investigating it will now fall under the possibility of direct funding from European and other international organizations, the preparation of relevant funding requests, while implementing these actions acting as a beneficiary.
