“From today, based on a European regulation that came into force, all electronic devices, mobile phones, tablets, headphones, regardless of manufacturer, sold in the European Union, are required to have only one type of charger – the USB type c.”

This was underlined today on SKAI “Dekatianoi”, with Yiannis Pittaras and Giorgos Grigoriadis, the MEP of the New Democracy Dimitris Tsiodras, also speaking in his capacity as a member of the European Parliament’s Committee for the Internal Market and Consumer Protection. He added that laptops are not excluded from the regulation, but especially for them the European regulation begins in April.

He also highlighted the benefit and the convenience for all European consumers, who will now be able to charge all their devices with one charger, “avoiding additional costs and… unnecessary cables”.

Mr. Tsiodras also answered a series of questions about the upcoming election of the President of the Republic. He refused to comment on the nomenclature, advised everyone to wait for the Prime Minister’s announcement in the second fortnight of January, reminded that “the most prominent personality of the post-government, Konstantinos Karamanlis, was elected both times with the votes of the New Democracy (and some individual deputies added)” and identified “overall prestige and seriousness as selection criteria, which derive from the very character and nature of the institution”.
