The reaction of Walt Disney caused by the decision of the US Supreme Court that ruled that there is no longer a federal constitutional right to abortion.

The film giant announced today Friday that it will cover travel expenses for its employees seeking “family planning or reproductive care” in the light of the decision.

The benefits provided by the company will cover the cost of employees who need to travel to another location to access care, including abortion.

The company stressed to its employees that it recognizes the impact of the Court’s ruling and remains committed to providing comprehensive access to quality health care – including family planning and reproductive care, according to a Disney spokesman.

Disney is busy about 80,000 employees at Walt Disney World in Florida, where Gov. Ron de Sandis signed a bill banning abortions after 15 weeks of gestation.

The Florida law, which is scheduled to take effect July 1, is based on the Mississippi 15-week ban, which was at the heart of the Supreme Court ruling.

While companies such as Amazon.com, Citigroup, Levi Strauss & Co have publicly pledged to pay for abortion workers’ trips after Politico released the Court’s draft opinion, Disney refused to comment.

America’s largest bank, JPMorgan Chase & Co, has also been added to the growing list of major companies that will cover the costs of US-based employees who must travel to have a legal abortion.
