An easyJet flight to Minorca was intercepted by Spanish fighter jets after an 18-year-old British holidaymaker allegedly threatened to blow up the plane, the Daily Mail reported. The teenager was arrested upon landing on the Mediterranean island and specialist officers and sniffer dogs boarded the aircraft for security checks.

The alarm was raised on flight EZY8303 as it approached to land shortly before 5pm yesterday afternoon, June 3. “Yesterday the control tower at Menorca airport was alerted to a bomb threat on a plane heading from London to the capital of the island of Mahon, which was still in the air and approaching the airport. The threat was said to have been sent on a social media platform. Once the plane landed, it was moved to an area away from the main terminal and other aircraftofficials said.
Menorca or Menorca is a small island of the Balearic Islands, not as well known as Majorca and Ibiza. However, lovers of nature and beautiful landscapes have included Menorca in the list of their most favorite destinations in recent years.
Passengers remained on the tarmac for four hours while the plane was inspected. An easyJet spokesman said all passengers had disembarked, adding: “The safety and security of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority and we would like to thank passengers for their understanding».
