Nature lovers were shocked to find a burning barbecue in a beautiful spot in Snowdonia at risk of being destroyed by fire.
When discovered, the barbecue still had some black and “too edible” patties on the grill.
The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service warned at a barbecue this summer that there was a “high risk of accidental fire”.
The device was left at Llyn Geirionydd, a popular lakeside picnic spot in the Conwy Valley of Guidil Forest Park.
Many signs in the area warn people of the danger of fire.
It is unknown what happened to the people who set up the barbecue before Gemma Whittingham discovered it.
A mother from nearby Lanust posted on Facebook after discovering the danger of an abandoned fire under trees next to a lakeside parking lot.
“Imagine someone forgetting something in the lake,” he said.
“It’s still burning in a hamburger, no one can see it.”
After being pulled out with the help of the children, she told North Wales Live:
“The burger was charred and should be there for a while.”
Jema continued. “There was also a pile of burnt charcoal on the rocks by the lake. There was another car there, but it was chasing us, there was no one around.”
Arguing whether it is right to yell at tourists when the Queen’s Guard touches the bridle
“Fortunately, it’s starting to rain.
“Without it, the barbecue would have caught fire. I’m surprised people are so careless.”
The next day he again got rid of the barbecue, which had already been taken away.
It caused a series of bushfires after a period of unprecedented heat in Britain and turned out to be the driest July in 111 years.
Last year, camping, littering and fires reinforced police patrols in the area.
Additional signs have been installed by Conwy Council and Natural Resources Wales (NRW), which manages the Guidil Forest, has established the Tourism Task Force.
Although barbecue is not explicitly prohibited, it is advisable not to light an open flame.
In 1938 some 500 hectares of trees were burned.
NRW’s Richard Owen urges visitors to pay special attention.
He previously stated: “People don’t understand how easy it is to turn fraudulent barbecue and campfire embers into bigger ones.
“To minimize the risk of fire, have a picnic instead of a barbecue.
“If people ignore this advice, I recommend that they make sure it disappears when they are done cooking and take it home and dispose of it properly.
