The mother of 12-year-old Archie Battersby says doctors from other countries have contacted her to help.

Holly Dance told reporters outside the hospital this morning: “If this country can’t treat you or won’t treat you, what’s the harm in going to another country? Is it?” she said.

Doctors in Japan and Turkey said they had not examined Archie themselves, but could provide him with medical interventions to help him recover.

This could be challenged by British doctors who say it is better to withdraw life support now.

Ms Dance also said a plea was made for Archie to go to hospice “at worst”, adding that the hospital “brutally” said no.

“The court really focuses on the word dignity. What a dignified death in a noisy hospital room, doors open, people coming and going.

Archie Battersby Case

Archie was scheduled to be taken off life support this week, but his parents have filed numerous legal challenges to stop him, all of which have so far been denied.

It was postponed from Monday to Tuesday and was due to be removed at 11am today, but Holly Dance and Paul Battersby are now appealing to the European Court of Human Rights.

Archie was found unconscious in his home with a knot around his neck and has been in a coma since April.

His mother believes he participated in a dangerous TikTok challenge and suffered a devastating brain injury.

He currently lives on a ventilator and medication at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, East London.

Ms Dance said that if she did not submit a new application by 9am today, doctors would start taking her off life support at 11am.

“Our lawyers will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights,” he said earlier.

“With all the lawsuits so far, we didn’t have time for a day or two to prepare and withdraw all the lawsuits.

The High Court judge said he was “extremely sympathetic” to Archie’s parents, but added there was “no prospect of a significant recovery”.

Barts Health NHS Trust Medical Director Alistair Chesser said:

As directed by the court, I will work with my family to prepare for the end of treatment.

“Our goal is to provide the best possible support to everyone during this difficult time.”
