After being removed from the site, the activist was temporarily detained by security guards in a corridor next to the court entrance and did not appear to have suffered any significant injuries.

A protester stormed London’s 02 Arena where the Laver Cup kicked off and set himself on fire in protest.

The incident happened during a match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Diego Schwarzman.

After Tsitsipas took the first set, the protester entered the court wearing a shirt that read “End UK Private Jets” in capital letters.

He sat down near the net, poured alcohol into his hand and set fire to the floor as easily as he could.

“It came out of nowhere. I have no idea what this is about. I’ve never had that happen on court, so I hope it’s OK,” said Tsitsipas, who defeated Schwartzman 6-2, 6-1.

Security forces rushed to the scene and removed him from the court.

The protester finally extinguished the fire by waving his hand vigorously, and the small fire that developed on the surface of the field was extinguished by a security guard who had to step on it by throwing his jacket over it

After being removed from the site, the activist was temporarily detained by security guards in a corridor next to the court entrance and did not appear to have suffered any significant injuries.

He reportedly made this move to protest private jets and the pollutants they produce.
