Its second largest superyacht Vladimir Putin is in motion. “Graceful”, worth 119 million dollars, of the Russian president was spotted off the coast of Estonia and even with a new name, according to “Forbes”.
Photos taken on September 25 reveal that ‘Graceful’ has a new name: ‘Kosatka’, which means ‘killer whale’ in Russian.
In fact, Forbes, informed by TheYachtPhoto.com CEO and yacht watcher Peter Seyfferth, compared photos of Graceful available on yacht industry websites with Kosatka’s photo. and identification is visible.
The yacht was traveling north in the Baltic Sea, west of the Estonian island of Saaremaa. The photos show the superyacht being accompanied by a Russian coastguard vessel, possibly en route to St Petersburg.
It is not clear when the “Graceful” changed its name to “Kosatka” or when it left Kaliningrad, a Russian territory located between Lithuania and Poland.
The ship’s transponder has been disabled since at least August 30, according to ship tracking service MarineTraffic, when it was still in Kaliningrad.
The “Kosatka” – then called the “Graceful” – sailed from the German port of Hamburg on February 7, seventeen days before the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. She left for Russia after a five-month refit at the shipyards of Blohm+Voss, the company that built the vessel in 2014. The US Treasury Department sanctioned Graceful along with three other Putin-linked yachts on June 2.
Registered in Russia, ‘Kosatka’ features an indoor swimming pool that converts into a theater and dance floor, a helipad and suites for up to 12 people. The ship also has pool towel storage lockers that double as a vodka bar and a wine cellar that can store up to 400 bottles.
According to a BBC News investigation published in March, the yacht is now owned by Moscow-based JSC Argument, which was sanctioned by the US Treasury along with its sole shareholder, Andrei Gasilovon June 2.
The BBC investigation found that JSC Argument had previously agreed to take a loan from one of the management companies involved in the construction of “Putin’s Palace”, near the resort of Gelendzhik, on the Black Sea coast.
In addition to Kosatka, Putin has been linked to at least five other vessels: the $507 million Scheherazade, which is technically owned by the oil and gas billionaire; Eduard Khudainatovbut believed to be Putin’s, $22 million Olympia, $18 million Chayka, Russian for seagull, $17 million Shellest, and Nega .
