“Today, we will ask you to limit the consumption of electricity. Also during peak hours — from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. — please do not turn on energy-consuming devices,” Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Smikhal asked in a message on Telegram.

The Ukrainian government today called on the population to “limit” the consumption of electricity after the Russian strikes carried out since yesterday on energy facilities in several regions.

Today, we will ask you to limit your electricity consumption. Also during peak hours — from 17.00 to 23.00 — please do not turn on energy-consuming devices“, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Smykhal asked in a Telegram message.

The Ukrainian leader mainly referred to “electric stoves, electric kettles” or even “in the radiator, oven and electric iron, microwave oven, coffee machine, washing machines and dishwashers“.

“This is very important for the stable operation of our energy system” and the need to repair damaged infrastructure, he said as Ukraine has been the target since Monday of several Russian strikes against its energy facilities in retaliation for the partial destruction of Russian Crimean Bridge.

Only yesterday, Monday, “3,900 locations were left without electricity,” according to the Ukrainian prime minister. “Since then, power has been restored to 3,800” areas among them, Schmihal said, referring to 33 bombings recorded in the country since early this morning.

But we are united and we will hold strong“, said the head of the government according to which Ukrainians had already reduced their electricity consumption by 10% the previous day, responding to the same call of the authorities.

“The electricity supply of the western regions has stabilized,” he also stated with satisfaction, also mentioning the Kharkiv region in the northeastern part of the country.
