Informal meeting Macron – Meloni in Rome

According to the Italian presidency, the meeting lasted more than an hour and had as its object the dealing with the energy, the Ukrainian, the critical economic situation and the management of immigration.

The new Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the French President Emmanuel Macron had an informal meeting yesterday in Rome. Emmanuel Macron is in the Italian capital, invited by the Catholic voluntary organization Agios Aegidos, while today, Monday, he will have a meeting with Pope Francis and the Italian president of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

After his conversation with Georgia Meloni, the French president tweeted:

“As Europeans, as neighboring countries, as friendly peoples, with Italy we must continue all the work we have started. We must succeed together, with dialogue and ambition: we owe it to our young people and to our people. Our first meeting in Rome, Georgia Meloni, goes in that direction.”
