Erdogan-Putin phone call on grain exports via the Black Sea

The Turkish president assured that Ankara will take “the necessary initiatives” with all sides to resolve the problems related to the implementation of the agreement

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed optimism today that Russia and Ukraine will establish a solution-oriented partnership, but that resolving the grain crisis through a constructive approach will encourage a return to negotiations.

In the phone call he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Erdogan assured that Ankara will take “necessary initiatives” with all sides to resolve the problems related to the implementation of the grain export agreement through the Black Sea.

According to the Turkish presidency, Erdogan and Putin discussed regional issues, in particular the recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Moscow announced on Sunday that it was suspending its participation in the agreement under which Ukrainian grain exports from Ukrainian ports had resumed.
