On October 29, 150 people boarded the longest train in the world, traveling 25 kilometers around the Swiss Alps from Preda to Albano, in the southeast Switzerland.
Celebrating the 175th anniversary of Switzerland’s first railway, the country’s rail operators have teamed up to create the new 100-car, 2,990-tonne, 1.91km (1.19-mile) train, breaking a Guinness World Record.
On Oct. 29, 2022, the Rhaetian Railway (#RhB) brought the world’s longest narrow-gauge passenger train on the #UNESCO World Heritage route from the Albula Tunnel in Preda to the world-famous Landwasser Viaduct at the outskirts of Filisur under the eyes of thousands of guests. pic.twitter.com/LqKchcLJd1

For the journey the train passes through the Albula Line, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its many hairpin curves and steep descents.
With seven drivers, the train started from 1,788 meters above sea level and descended to 999 meters while recording top speeds of 35 km/h.
The effort was organized by the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) with the support of train manufacturer Stadler.
