Regarding the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Cavusoglu said that high-ranking Turkish, Swedish and Finnish diplomats will hold a tripartite meeting on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Bucharest.

Turkey may appoint an ambassador to Egypt in the coming months, the Turkish foreign minister said on Monday Mevlut Cavusoglu according to the Anatoli agency.

Regarding its inclusion Sweden and Finland at NATO, Cavusoglu said senior Turkish, Swedish and Finnish diplomats would hold a tripartite meeting on the sidelines of the Bucharest Summit.

“Although the procedures for the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO are moving forward, Stockholm needs to take more steps,” explained the Turkish foreign minister.

In the efforts of the Turkish president for rapprochement with Egypt the Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram reports in the meantime in a key article published on its website, entitled “Turkish media: Erdogan declares himself willing to end the rift with Egypt, to avoid problems in the Mediterranean”.

However, the Egyptian newspaper, in its report, also points out what separates the two sides, demonstrating that it will take many concessions on Turkey’s part, especially in Libya, to “rebuild” the bridges and end the “rift” as Erdogan calls it:

Last year, Cairo and Ankara held two rounds of exploratory talks – led by the deputy foreign ministers of Egypt and Turkey – to repair ties severed by Ankara’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood, which Egypt considers a terrorist organization.
