A new incident of racial hatred with a Turkish attacker and a Kurdish victim occurred in northern France, two days after a 69-year-old man opened fire on a street near a Kurdish cultural center in Paris, killing three Kurds.

On Sunday afternoon, a 47-year-old man of Turkish origin attacked a 27-year-old Kurdish hairdresser with scissors, inside the victim’s salon, in the Roube community, because he was playing Kurdish music.

After the incident, the customer – perpetrator was arrested on the charge of “attempted murder” while, according to the authorities, he was already known to the police.

The 27-year-old Kurdish hairdresser, of Iraqi origin, injured by the attack, underwent surgery and is hospitalized out of danger.

The 69-year-old was remanded in custody

The 69-year-old Frenchman – a retired train driver – who allegedly killed three Kurds last Friday in Paris was remanded in custody on Monday after being charged with murder and attempted murder because of the victim’s race, ethnicity or religion, as well as illegal weapons possession.

He himself admitted that he has a “pathological hatred of foreigners”.

At the same time, many hundreds of people did march to Paris in memory of the victims with Kurdish slogans such as “Our martyrs do not die” and, in French, “Women, life, freedom”, while calling for “truth and justice”.

At the scene of the attack, protesters placed photos of the victims, flowers and lit candles. It followed a march to another street in the same district where, on January 9, 2013, three members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party were murdered, a case that has not been clarified to this day.
