A Palestinian stabbed and wounded a Jewish settler in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday before being shot dead, Israeli authorities said.

The Palestinian — a resident of Al-Dahiriyah, near Hebron — attacked with a knife and injured the 30-year-old Israeli, who was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release issued by the Red Star of David (p. p. the corresponding Red Cross in Israel).

The attacker was shot and killed by a passerby, Israeli Kan TV reported.

Earlier yesterday, Israeli soldiers killed a 21-year-old Palestinian gunman during an operation in the Balata refugee camp, near Nablus, according to a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The Israeli military said the soldiers were attacked during an operation to identify and arrest extremists and returned fire.
