In the German village of Lichen the “Citizens of the Reich” are preparing an autonomous state with its own currency, flag and legal order. Behind them is the “king” Peter Fitzek
Lichen is in the middle of nowhere. A dot in the Uckermark district of northeastern Germany, made famous because Merkel maintains a dacha in a nearby village. You can’t call Lichen a village with only 180 souls here and there. But the matter is different. In Lichen, supporters of the Reich Citizens have “great plans”, they want to establish the “Kingdom of Germany”. A handful of people, but the devil has no numerical size. The villagers have already gathered twice to think about what measures they should take to prevent “anti-democratic forces” from settling in their area. The last time was last Friday with a total of 40 interested parties.
Berliners have dachas
It is no coincidence that the Brandenburg Constitution Protection Agency is keeping a close eye on the expansion efforts of the Reich Citizens. What they seek is with an estate as a base to buy land and attract like-minded people. They could even acquire 44 hectares of land on the edge of the village or in deserted areas where no one notices them through a cooperative. And all this is completely legal. But Lichen does not lend itself to such a thing, because it is neither isolated nor abandoned. Berliners have their dachas and celebrate weddings and festivals in the village. The 26-meter-deep Großer Kronsee is a paradise for divers because of its clear waters. Here there are wooden cottages with tall windows. And Angela Merkel occasionally comes from nearby Hohenwald to taste the famous dishes of the Mühlenwirtschaft restaurant in Lichen. So what business do Reich Citizens have? Their presence not only destroys the social fabric of the village, but also harms businesses.
It is not long ago that the police authorities prevented by raids throughout the German territory Reich Citizens under the orders of a supposed prince, Henry XIII, from carrying out violent plans for the overthrow of the republic. In Ban Lobstein, Thuringia, the prince’s residence, the residents largely accepted the existence of these gray tumors. But this does not seem to be the case in Lichen either. The last gathering of the villagers was also attended by Christian Pfenich from the Brandenburg Constitution Protection Service who explained to them why the “Kingdom of Germany” is no joke. There is a risk that “more and more real estate will end up in the hands of these extremists,” Pfenich said. The soul of the extremists is Peter Fitzek, a cook by profession. He rejects Germany’s state sovereignty and has established an imaginary totalitarian state with its own flag, currency and legal order, the “Kingdom of Germany”.
About Peter Fitzsek
The Office for the Protection of the Constitution has classified Fitchek and his followers among the Reich Citizens, a total of 21,000 people throughout Germany. This man has set up a “huge dangerous scam” that secures him a high income with donations and expensive seminars. The self-styled “king” uses the money to run banks, which he has been repeatedly banned from doing by the financial watchdog. In 2017 the Halle City Court convicted Fitzek of this, but a year later the Federal Court overturned the verdict and the proceedings were suspended. According to an investigation by ARD’s Kontraste TV show, the “Kingdom of Germany” is now openly and openly anti-Semitic. In a video, the self-proclaimed “king” Fitzek claims that “the elites want war to establish and maintain fear in the mass of the population.” The purpose, according to Fitzek, is “to make people so afraid that they simply accept the Satanists’ new order.”
So what do Fitzek and his followers do to realize their goals? They are looking for real estate to create so-called “shared villages”, in other words autonomous enclaves of Reich Citizens. There is also a precedent. In Saxony they have already bought two castles for this purpose, with sums of millions. But why at the edge of the world, in the generally unknown Lichen? The answers are general. They want, they say, to do projects for the supply of food in various ways of cooperation. However, Pfenich from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution has a video at his disposal, which has since been deleted from the website of the “Kingdom of Germany”. It shows a familiar “citizen” of the Kingdom, explaining that the 44 hectares of land around the village of Lichen are to become a “state farm” to supply Fitzgerald’s “Kingdom of Germany” with organically grown produce and make it self-sufficient. Stories about savages, you might say. Not at all. Pfenich says extremists have rights, too, and that his agency can’t stop anyone from selling land to private individuals.
