The US and the UK are using the tactic of controlled leaks on the issue of the Nord Stream pipeline explosions in an attempt to build a agenda that suits them, but the truth will emerge, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.

“Washington and London are following the well-trodden path of using controlled leaks in this matter, shaping the agenda that suits them,” he said of Nord Stream

“But the truth will come out, I’m sure,” the diplomat added on Telegram.

“I will not be surprised if, as a result of an alleged ‘research’, the Westerners and their newspapers prove that the Nord Stream pipelines were destroyed by a dolphin who escaped from Crimea to Ukraine (…) But seriously, Washington and London are following the beaten track on this issue using controlled leaks, shaping the agenda they need,” he said.

The New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing US officials, that the latest intelligence suggests a pro-Ukrainian group could be behind the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines. The US government was not aware of the operation, the report said. German newspaper Die Zeit published a report saying that German investigators had identified the ship used by the saboteurs. The company that rented it was reportedly owned by Ukrainian nationals and registered in a Polish registry.

The man who financed the blowing up of the natural gas pipelines “Nord Stream-1” and “Nord Stream-2” is a Ukrainian citizenwhich is not related to the government of Volodymyr Zelensky, writes the British newspaper The Times on Wednesday.
