A new military aid package for Ukraineamounting to 1.2 billion dollars, in order to strengthen the anti-aircraft defense of this country, announced today the United States.

This new assistance reflects the fact that “the United States is determined to continue to support Ukraine, providing it with critical assets such as air defense systems and ammunition in the short term and, in the long term, strengthening its defense capabilities,” the Pentagon statement said.

The package includes the commitment of additional 155 mm artillery rounds and support to enable Ukraine to better maintain its systems and equipment, the statement noted.

This time the US will not provide equipment from its stockpiles but will finance the purchase of equipment. This new package provides for the purchase of ammunition for drone detection and shooting systems.

More specifically, this package includes:

  • Additional air defense systems and ammunition.
  • Equipment to integrate Western air defense launchers, missiles and radars with Ukraine’s air defense systems.
  • Ammunition for tracking and shooting down unmanned aircraft (drones)
  • 155 mm artillery shells.
  • Commercial satellite imagery services.
  • Support for training, maintenance and upkeep activities.

THE Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude for the new American aid, speaking of a “sign of solidarity” shown on a “symbolic day for us, Europe Day and Victory Day over Nazism in World War II”.

“Together, we are heading for a new victory,” the Ukrainian president tweeted.
