NATO called on Pristina to take immediate steps to de-escalate the tension
The National Security Council of Serbia during the extraordinary meeting called by the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucicdue to the crisis in northern Kosovo, decided to keep the armed forces on high alert.
He also authorized the head of the GES General Milan Moisilovic to be in constant contact with the command of the international military force in Kosovo – KFOR and NATO with the aim of protecting the Serbian population.
It is noted that yesterday, Friday, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, reacting to the police operation for the installation of the new Mayors in the north of Kosovo, put the armed forces on “combat readiness” and ordered the movement of units to the administrative border with Kosovo .
The decision of the government in Pristina to enforce the use of police officers in four Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo, as well as the result of the April 23 elections, which the Serbs do not accept since they abstained, caused strong reactions.
NATO called on Pristina to take immediate measures to de-escalate the tension while the US condemned the behavior of the Kosovo government.
“We strongly condemn the actions of the government of Kosovo that are escalating tension in the north and fueling instability. We call on Prime Minister Albin Kurti to immediately stop these violent measures and to refocus on the EU-sponsored dialogue,” US foreign policy chief Anthony Blinken wrote in a post on Twitter.

The police operation in northern Kosovo was also condemned by the countries of the five-member Quint (USA, France, Great Britain, Italy, Germany) and called on the government in Pristina to step back and work to de-escalate the tension.
