The presidents of Lithuania and Poland are visiting Kiev today to meet with the president Volodymyr Zelensky and to express their support for Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the EU, ahead of the summits of these two organizations.

The presidents of the two countries are among the most ardent supporters of Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the EU.

European Union leaders will hold their regular summit tomorrow, Thursday, and the day after tomorrow, Friday, in Brussels, while NATO holds its annual summit in Vilnius in two weeks.

Zelensky is pushing for the NATO summit to include “political invitation” for Ukraine to join the Western military alliance.

As stated in a statement issued by the office of Lithuanian President Gitanas NauÅ¡eda, the presidents will discuss “the agenda of the NATO summit”, negotiations on Ukraine’s EU accession and European support for Ukraine.

Polish President Andrzej Duda’s office announced: “Talks with President Zelenskiy concern … the current situation at the front, including the threat of a Russian attack behind the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Station.”

“Preparations for the NATO summit in July will also be discussed.”

NATO members move closer to agreement on strengthening ties with Ukraine at Vilnius summitbut have yet to resolve their differences over how to respond to Ukraine’s bid for membership.
