Protest by the Consulate General of China in Marseille
China’s consulate general in Marseille lodged a protest with France’s foreign ministry after a bus carrying a group of Chinese tourists to the city was attacked with stones on Thursday, resulting in minor injuries.
In its protest, the Chinese consulate calls for ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens and their property.
The bus was attacked on Thursday, China’s state-run CCTV reported, amid riots that have erupted in several French cities after a 17-year-old boy was shot dead by a police officer on Tuesday.

The Chinese tourists who were on the bus in question have now left France, the Chinese consulate said.
In addition, the consulate called on Chinese citizens who are in France or who intend to travel there to “be careful” and show “prudence” due to the riots that have rocked the country in recent days.
