The decision was taken after an online vote with the participation of 200,000 people in 71 countries and was approved unanimously by the nine members of the competent committee of the Foundation.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog will present the award to Albert Burla during a ceremony in Jerusalem on June 29.

Traditionally, the recipients of the award have the amount of one million dollars that accompanies it to charity.

Albert Bourla asked the Institute to allocate the money to programs aimed at preserving the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, with special emphasis on the tragedy of the Greek Jewish community.
