Ukrainian: Romanian Armed Forces Prepare for State of War

by

All Romanian armed forces should begin preparing for a “state of war” for fear of a possible Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine, according to a document seized by the EURACTIV site.

Specifically, this is a ministerial decision which states that military prosecutors are legally authorized to mobilize the reserve military and the mission of the police can be changed and adapted to a state of war.

Spanish and French warships and planes have already been mobilized in Romanian ports and airports on the Black Sea.

The next two weeks are “difficult”

“The next two weeks will be difficult,” a European diplomat warned on condition of anonymity at EURACTIV.

The scenarios, according to experts and analysts, vary and everything will depend on the degree of escalation chosen by the Putin regime.

The worst-case scenario is a “full-scale” Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The best-case scenario is for diplomacy to prevail, as promoted by “moderate” Europeans such as France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece, exhausting “any room for dialogue” with Moscow.

Another scenario is to make a “small invasion” by violating the Ukrainian border, or simply to send Russian mercenaries and military equipment to the occupied territories of Ukraine.

A bad scenario is also to launch Russian conventional missiles against Ukrainian territory without sending troops.

“It’s all speculation […] “The climate is clearly not good but we hope that in the end calm will prevail,” the European diplomat commented.

Turkish stunts

CNN Turk reported earlier in the week that Turkish President Erdogan was planning a visit to Ukraine on February 3.

“Erdogan’s position is clearly difficult given that Turkey is a member of NATO and the Kremlin-Ankara close relations […] “he will try to play the role of peacemaker,” said another European diplomat.

“These are the well-known stunts of Erdogan,” he added.
