A chilling video shows a 5m long python slithering across the roof of a house in Australia as family members enjoy their lunch.

The video has amassed over 12 million views on TikTok, as followers gasp to see the huge reptile crawl across the roof of the house and poke its head out of a tree. It then moves until it leaves the roof of the house and disappears into the trees.

“Only in Australia will you see a 5m long snake in the suburbs,” reads the caption of the video, which was shot in Queensland.

Herpetologist Snake Catcher Dan warns people not to get too close to these ferocious reptiles as, while they are not normally dangerous to humans, they will bite if they feel threatened. “Pythons of this species have 80 to 100 small teeth, but a larger one can cause damage if it gets its hands on you.”
