A tanker, belonging to a company linked to Israel, has been seized off the coast of Yemen, maritime security company Ambrey said, in the latest such incident in that maritime area in recent days.

“The incident is likely linked to state actors,” the company said, adding that the ship, which is owned by a UK-based company linked to Israel, had received threats from Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

U.S. naval forces are aware of the incident, Ambrey added, without specifying whether U.S. forces are operating to assist the ship, named “Central Park.”

On Friday a cargo ship belonging to an Israeli businessman was attacked by an Iranian-made drone in the Indian Ocean, while last Sunday the Houthis seized a cargo ship belonging to Israeli interests in the southern Red Sea.

Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels have threatened to launch attacks on Israeli or Israeli-allied ships in the Red Sea in retaliation for Israel’s war against Hamas. In recent weeks, rebels have fired drones and rockets into Israeli territory. Many of them have been intercepted by Israeli air defense systems or by US warships.

The seizure of the Central Park ship occurred off the port of the Yemeni city of Aden. A merchant ship in the area reported that the tanker was “approached by eight people, wearing military uniforms, who were on two boats,” according to Ambrey.
