Blinken: Washington sees no signs of withdrawal of Russian forces from border with Ukraine

by

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today that the United States has not seen any withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine and how the Moscow moves critical units closer to the area.

Russia said today it was withdrawing other forces that had surrounded Ukraine, but NATO said it was continuing to reinforce troops, questioning Moscow’s stated willingness to negotiate a solution to the crisis.

THE Blinken agreed with his assessment NATO in a TV interview he gave this morning (US time).

“There is what Russia says and then there is what Russia does. “And we have not seen any withdrawal of its forces,” Blinken told MSNBC. “We still see critical units moving towards the border, not far from the border.”

“It simply came to our notice then. “We have to see these forces move away.”

The president of USA Joe Biden yesterday called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to back off a war with Ukraine, citing “pointless deaths and destruction” that could be caused by Moscow and the international outcry that Putin would face.

Biden said the United States estimates that 150,000 Russian troops are now encircling Ukraine, a number that is estimated to be around 100,000. He said the information that some forces had withdrawn was welcome, but was unconfirmed and that an invasion remained possible.
