The judge overseeing the former president’s trial Donald Trump for attempting to overturn the election result in the State of Georgia today dismissed some of the charges against him and some of his co-defendants.

In dismissing a total of six counts, Fulton County Circuit Judge Scott McAfee said prosecutors’ contention that the defendants attempted to coerce officials into violating their oath of office was not detailed enough.

Three of the charges weighed against Trump, the Republican Party’s nominee for the November election. The basic racketeering charge against Trump and all of his co-defendants remains in place.

McAfee is due to issue a long-awaited ruling soon on whether the prosecutor who took over the case, Fannie Willis, should be excluded because of her romantic relationship with a lawyer she hired to handle the prosecution of the defendants.
