“Israel is not a crusading empire and the capital of Israel, Jerusalem, is not Constantinople”
He gives a harsh answer – and even in the Turkish language – through X to Tayyip Erdogan the Israeli foreign minister Israel Katz. The Turkish president earlier gave a recital of bigotry as he not only railed against the Israelis but also recalled the conquest of Jerusalem by the Ottoman Empire. In a cartoon posted by Katz, reminiscent of MAD magazine, Erdogan is shown sleeping in a bed and dreaming that he is… a sultan.
“Erdogan dreams of re-establishing the Ottoman Empire” comments the Israeli minister sarcastically, even quoting… heroes who appear in Turkish TV series of the time.
Erdoğan dreams of rebuilding the Osmanlı İmparatorluğu and today he continued his attacks and calamities against Israel at the Parlamento Arası Kudüs Platformu Konferansı. Müslüm Kardeşler’in adamı @RTErdoganİsrail’i çökertmeyi, Kudüs’ü fethetmeyi ve Müslüman… pic.twitter.com/fhNkNz3R8X

“Erdogan dreams of re-establishing the Ottoman Empire and today he continued his attacks and slanders against Israel at the Inter-Parliamentary Conference on the Jerusalem Platform. A man of the Muslim Brotherhood, Erdogan dreams of destroying Israel, conquering Jerusalem and leading the Muslim world. Erdogan, you @DirilisDizisi And @KurulusDizisi keep watching your TV series and keep dreaming. Israel is not a crusading empire and the capital of Israel, Jerusalem, is not Constantinople. Jerusalem will forever remain the capital of the Jewish people. Face the truth and stop dragging Turkey into dark places – you are shaming Atatürk’s legacy and the Turkish people.”
“My ancestors served Jerusalem for 400 years”
“My ancestors served Jerusalem for 400 years. Their legacy cannot be erased.” the Turkish president said earlier from Istanbul. “Jerusalem was set on fire and destroyed by the Crusaders. And we, as the successors of our ancestors who raised Jerusalem again for 400 years and made it a place of prosperity, so we also follow all the developments in Palestine” he even stated, according to SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis.
Jerusalem was under the control of the Ottoman Empire for several centuries until the end of World War I. The Ottomans they captured the city in 1517 and held it until 1917making it part of their empire for about 400 years.
