Two serious warnings are in effect until at least Wednesday afternoon floods in Britain, at risk of loss of human life.

The warnings concern two areas through which the River Severn passes in the west of England, on the border with Wales, which overflowed in some places on Tuesday night.

In particular, the river waters have flooded the dams in Boudley, while threatening to flood houses in Ironbridge.

Environment Secretary George Justis said about 400 homes were flooded, but another 40,000 were protected by flood defenses.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least three places in the same area last week, when the country was hit by three consecutive strong winds, Dudley, Eunice and Franklin.

There are a total of 14 mild flood warnings in areas where the Severn is flowing, while a total of almost 140 flood warnings and alarms were in effect throughout the country until late at night.

At the same time, two more serious weather warnings came into force this morning. Initially, there will be strong wind warnings in the north of England and parts of Scotland until this afternoon, and wind and snow warnings for most of Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland until Thursday afternoon.

The warning refers to snow that will reach 10 cm in places and winds of almost 110 kilometers per hour in coastal areas.
