Standing against Israel’s state terrorism is an Islamic duty, but also a national issue, Erdogan said
Tayyip Erdogan launched a new fierce attack on Israel on Saturday
As he pointed out, Islamic countries should to form an alliance against what he called “the growing threat of expansionism” from Israel.
Standing against Israel’s state terrorism is an Islamic duty, but also a national issue, the Turkish president said.
Erdogan said Israel “heinously” murdered Turkish-American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi (killed in the West Bank by Israeli fire) and killed over 40,000 innocent civilians, including 17,000 children, in Gaza.
“The only step that will stop Israeli arrogance, and Israeli state terrorism is the alliance of Islamic countries,” Erdogan said at an Islamic school association event near Istanbul.
He said recent steps Turkey has taken to improve ties with Egypt and Syria are aimed at “forming a line of solidarity against the growing threat of expansionism,” which he said also threatens Lebanon and Syria.
The new “process” that Turkey has started with Egypt will benefit Gaza and Palestine, he said especially about the rapprochement with Cairo.
The Turkish president hosted his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Ankara this week and discussed the Gaza war and ways to further mend their frozen ties during this first presidential visit in 12 years.
“The final goal with Egypt is the agreement in the Eastern Mediterranean,” the Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported on Friday, according to Manoli Kostidi.
HABER GLOBAL TV report: “There is an agreement that Greece has made with Egypt, this was done at a time when our own relations with Egypt were not good. But on the other hand, a quick step was taken and we had signed an EEZ definition agreement with Libya. Thus Turkey and Libya met in the seas. Now maybe a cooperation maybe even an agreement between Turkey and Egypt will start. Look at the map and you will see Greece with Egypt? Turkey and Egypt. Reason is with us and we may see this in the next period”.
