Ukraine struck an ammunition depot in Russia’s Voronezh region overnight with a drone, a Ukrainian security source said today, adding that Kiev believes the depot is being used by Russian forces to transport ammunition and equipment to the Ukrainian front.

Alexander Gusevgovernor of Voronezh, indicated on Telegram that “explosive objects” were detonated after a fire broke out in the Ostrogozhsky district.

He added that there were no casualties, but a state of emergency was declared in part of the region, with hundreds of people being evacuated from their homes and a major highway being closed.

The Ukrainian source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the operation was conducted by the SBU, Ukraine’s internal security service.

At this time there are still four pockets of heavy fire at the scene, and ammunition explosions are being observed“, he pointed out.

The source clarified that the warehouse is located in the village of Soldatskoe, which is far away about 130 kilometers from the nearest area under Ukrainian control.
