The police in the state Kentucky of the US announced that it is in progress attack of a gunman who, based on initial information, is apparently firing at passers-by on Interstate 75 in the London area.

According to the first reports, there are injured.

The incident began to unfold just before 6:00 p.m. (local time; around 01:00 Greek time), when police were called to the area following phone calls that vehicles had been shot at on the highway in its part of Laurel County, media reported.

Always according to the police, the shots came from an area with vegetation.

“Please avoid I-75 until further notice! Use alternate routes and don’t even come close,” London Mayor Randall Weddle said via Facebook.

According to the authorities, the perpetrator is evading arrest so far.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear also urged state residents to avoid the area via X and added that “we will provide more details as they become available.”
