Elements of Russian air defense shot down at least 71 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight Monday into Tuesday, according to authorities and the state-run TASS news agency.

In Russia’s Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, “59 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed,” Alexander Bogomaz, the region’s governor, said via Telegram, adding that “no casualties or damage were reported.”

Another ten Ukrainian drones were destroyed at night in the Moscow region, the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sabianin, also announced via Telegram.

According to him, a fire broke out in a high-rise building near Moscow, on the eleventh and twelfth floors, and firefighters are on the scene.

Emergency services were rushed to the Damantidava district, home to one of the capital’s major airports, Mayor Sabianin said.

The airport of the same name is located approximately 50 kilometers south of the Kremlin.

Three Moscow airports suspended departures and arrivals for another night because of the Ukrainian incursion, according to their websites.

Two Ukrainian drones were intercepted in the Tula region, south of Moscow, TASS reported. There was damage to a fuel storage facility, however “no losses”, authorities there said, according to the agency, which stressed that “the situation is under control”, citing local officials.

Russia announces practically every day the destruction of Ukrainian drones launched against installations on its territory. On Saturday, Kiev claimed responsibility for a strike on an ammunition depot in the border region of Varonez.

In Ukraine, the military administration of Kiev announced that for one more night the anti-aircraft defense was activated to repel an attack by Russian drones in the region.
