Apparently, the Israeli government began to realize that, in addition to military operations, the criticisms of the international community resulting from the extremely high number of dead, wounded and refugees, are in a position to decide the outcome of a war that, from what it seems, it doesn’t end easily.

Thus, after yesterday’s deadly bombings aimed at Hassan Nasrallah and other high-ranking officials of the organization, the press conference given at midnight on Friday by the army representative differed in many respects from previous ones.

In particular, in an unusual appeal to the Lebanese citizens, the spokesman of the army, Daniel Hagari, announced that the bombing of three apartment buildings in three different districts of Beirut was imminent – an announcement that was accompanied by geographical maps – on the grounds that in heavy Iranian Hezbollah weaponry has been placed underground. With the passage of 45 minutes after the warning was made public, the specific apartment buildings were bombed.

Energean Platform Attack Alerts

It is worth noting that, for the first time since the start of the war, the Israeli side made an indirect – but clear – reference to Israel’s “strategic energy objectives in the Eastern Mediterranean”, implying the Energean natural gas refining platform off the coast of Lebanese coasts. It was yet another unusual warning to Hezbollah, saying warplanes are conducting constant preemptive patrols to prevent rocket attacks by the group.

However, there are mixed reactions in Israel to the army’s “willingness” last night to release “sensitive operational details”, nullifying the privilege of surprise. However, it is a common secret that this new communication tactic is not only aimed at its direct recipients in Lebanon. It is addressed mainly to the international community, which repeatedly criticizes Israel for the heavy toll of victims, which its military operations leave behind. Thus, the question that arises is whether the new communication management of the Lebanese front will cause a desired “communication echo”, with the content that the Israeli side would like.
