“Restoring America to health starts TOMORROW”was the caption Donald Trump Jr. put, probably trying to make a joke, the eldest son of the tycoon, in the photo he uploaded to Instagram from that dinner, on his father’s plane, with billionaire Elon Musk also present as well as the outgoing speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson.
Mr Trump, his son, Mr Musk and Mr Kennedy went to New York together on Saturday night to attend an evening of mixed martial arts (MMA) at Madison Square Garden.
Mr. Kennedy, political heir to the notorious Democratic dynasty — the rest of the family has disowned him — joined Mr. Trump’s campaign ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election, promising, among other things, to attack the processed food industry.
“For too long, the American people have been crushed by the food industry and pharmaceutical conglomerate,” Trump said among other things in announcing his intention to nominate Mr. Kennedy last Thursday.
On social networking sites, many commented that tomorrow’s health minister seemed to be the least enthusiastic and least smiling of his fellow scientists.
Conspiracy theorist and anti-vaccinationist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an environmental lawyer, 70, has complained for years about the continuing obesity epidemic in the U.S. that needs to be addressed by reducing high levels of sugar, fat and of processed ingredients in the national diet.
Last week, he made extremely scathing comments about the diet of his future political boss, Mr. Trump. “The things he’s eating are really bad,” he said on a Joe Polis podcast, specifically railing against the menu served on the Republican mogul’s plane.
“Campaign food is always bad, but for anyone on (Mr Trump’s) plane, it’s real poison,” he fumed. “You don’t have a choice, they give you either a KFC or a Big Mac,” he explained.
Mr Trump has never hidden his penchant for fast food and Diet Coke, even making a surprise campaign appearance as a McDonald’s employee in Pennsylvania amid his fevered campaign. “I love salt!” she said then.
